Friday, April 10, 2015

TRIBUN JATENG, Magelang - Vice Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Hidayat Nur Wahid deplores government policies related to the blocking of a number of sites that are claimed as a medium for the spread of radicalism. Hidayat, the policy was too hasty because the government does not yet have a strong legal foundation of radicalism itself.

"The government should have a strong legal basis, so that when they wanted to do the bans already clear foundation. The mistake (site) was what, after the obvious guilt imposed new sanctions, not direct execution," Hidayat said after attending the Socialization of Four Pillars of Nation and State at Hotel Borobudur, Magelang, Friday (10/04/2015).

Exercise 4-Text of Linguistics
  • Langue: suatu bahasa tertentu.
Pakar linguistik disebut linguis. Bapak Linguistik modern adalah Ferdinand de Saussure (1857-1913). Bukunya tentang bahasa berjudul Course de Linguistique Generale yang diterbitkan pertama kali tahun 1916.

Fourth Assignment

In Bali, Balancing the Universe

Balinese Hindus believe that prayer is needed to create the power to balance the world as it traverses the Kali Yuga. It is conducted by thousands people in the village of Juga outside Ubud who came there to recharge their temple's batteries to bring harmony to a world in chaos. Over five months, men and women have been preparing for the Upacara Karya Perdudusan Agung ceremony, which costs the community around US$150,000 to stage. This ceremony is repeated every 30 or 40 years in order to seek safety, peace, wealth, health and balance the village in Bali or even the world.

Wayan Padra, the head of Juga village, says that the lead-up to the main ceremony on January 6 involves 226 families from the village and help from 8 surrounding villages. At the center of the ritual are Rangda and Barong, the incarnations of the wedded gods Durga and Shiva, who are masters of life and death. Ragda and Barong have been decorated with 23 different types of seeds and 6 different strains of rice. Ten people have been working for a month to glue seeds as tiny as sesame seed to the bodies to create a mosaic from thousands of individual seeds. All of that are the symbols of a married couple, good as in Barong and evil as in Rangda. The ceremony itself is as a media to balance between the positive and negative. Furthermore, why they use seed to make effigies is because seed is as a symbol of thankfulness to the gods for foods. After the ceremony, Rangda and Barong will be placed in the temple so that people can pray and ask for the seeds so those return to the earth. They believe that the seeds meet the gods in thanks then return to the natural world.

Third Assignment

Court Delays Decision on Death Row Convicts

Two Australian drug convicts on death row in Indonesia, Myuran Sukumuran and Andrew Chan, will not be executed this month after a court on Thursday postponed their appeal hearing against the rejection of a request for presidential clemency and they had been transferred to the prison island of Nusakambangan.

They are the member of Bali Nine who were arrested in 2005 as the ringleaders of a plot to smuggle heroin out of indonesia.

Their lawyer, Leonard Arfan, said that the hearing for those cases had been delayed until March 25 for submitting the evidence.

Judge Ujang Abdullah said that final arguments would be heard on April 1 a verdict would be announced soon because the attorney general would not set a date for the executions until of the legal processes are completed for all ten on death row.

Indonesia has harsh penalties for drug trafficking after a five years hiatus and five foreigners were among six people executed in January since President Jokowi took office in October.
